The LSPD hiring process is designed to identify the most qualified candidates who demonstrate the character, skills, and commitment needed to serve the community of Los Santos. The process consists of multiple stages, each evaluating different aspects of your readiness for a career in law enforcement.
Steps to Join the LSPD
Application
Submit your application through the LSPD Civilian Portal. Ensure all required documents are complete and accurate before submission. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
Written Examination
Complete a written exam that assesses reading comprehension, writing ability, and basic reasoning skills. The exam is designed to evaluate your aptitude for law enforcement duties.
Physical Fitness Test
Pass the LSPD Physical Fitness Qualifier (PFQ), which includes a timed obstacle course, push-ups, sit-ups, and a 1.5-mile run. Candidates must meet minimum standards in all categories.
Background Investigation
Undergo a thorough background check covering employment history, personal references, financial records, and criminal history. Investigators may contact your references and previous employers.
Oral Interview
Participate in a structured oral interview with a panel of LSPD officers and staff. The interview evaluates your communication skills, judgment, and motivation for joining the department.
Polygraph Examination
Complete a polygraph examination to verify the accuracy of information provided during the application and background investigation process.
Medical & Psychological Evaluation
Pass both a comprehensive medical examination and a psychological evaluation conducted by licensed professionals. These assessments confirm your fitness for duty.
Academy Training
Upon receiving a conditional offer, attend the LSPD Police Academy. Training covers law enforcement procedures, firearms, defensive tactics, emergency vehicle operations, and community policing.
Probationary Period
After graduating from the Academy, serve a probationary period under the supervision of a Field Training Officer (FTO). Successful completion leads to full appointment as an LSPD officer.
